I have not had much to post about in a couple of weeks. Just a little find here and there. I figured that I’d post it all at once, so this is three weeks worth of finds.

The place I’ve been hunting has marbles. I’ve found these in the erosion gullies, around the housing.

I’ve gotten a lot of clad, and a bunch of wheaties. The occasional oddity has shown up, like this 1940s British penny.

I got a token from the fair, that some yahoo put his name on ( I would have preferred an expletive!). As well as a token someone ruined with a nail.

None of this is what I am looking for... I want some silver! It’s just been tough to find lately.

This looked like a pull tab at first, but upon closer examination turned out to be a Joseph Esposito sterling ring. Or what’s left of one.

With the rains this week, the ground was damp, and the signals were good this morning. I went to the last place I saw Smittyman hunting, as he usually leaves me something good. Sure enough, I turned this plug over, and was greeted by a blackish silver disc.

Much to my amazement, a quick rinse revealed an SLQ!

It’s tarnished, and worn smooth, but it’s beautiful to me. Only the 4th one I’ve found, in 4.5 years.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

Way to go, I can't help but feel sorry for poor Smittyman. I've found a few SLQ my last one appeared at the lake right in front of the pier. My coil had to pass over it a hundred times. I bet I found at least 20 silver Washington's there, but that day a SLQ was in my scoop. I want a Capped Quarter!

I only have one capped bust coin, but I am certain that you already know that story!

Crazy how the silvers turn on and off like a faucet. I remember last season towards the end when you were plucking them out at an incredible pace! Sweet finds and that SLQ is awesome!

Thanks HVDI. For me, it is all about the spot. If I have a good spot, I will find some good stuff. At the end of last year, I stumbled into an 8 acre site, that yielded about 70 silver coins. I just happened to get a head start on the other gentlemen (I got 33 silver coins out of there).

The place I have been hunting lately is giving up silver coins, albeit begrudgingly. I am only allowed to hunt this spot on Sundays, and it is very hot right now... this place doesn't have any shade trees, so it's baking hot in the direct sun. I can only stand it for a couple of hours in the early morning. Hopefully the weather will cool soon, and I can spend more time on the site. I know that there is more good stuff there.

Funny, when I first saw that British ONE PENNY, I thought you'd found a Canadian coin. :laughing7:
That silver ladies ring looks like it could easily be straightened with the use of a ring mandrel Tom.

I too love making eyeball finds, especially these early marbles of yours.
Here's one similar to your green one that I found in a farm field last year.

Congrats on the SLQ find as well,
Dave

WTG CT... blackish silver is one of my favorite colors :icon_thumleft:. An SLQ is always a welcoming site. The marbles are a added a bonus for putting up with the heat. Congrats to you Mister.

Hello CT. That's a nice set of finds you have there...I'd be happy with that.

Thanks for the post and may the finds be with you. C9
