Metal Detecting
Was trying to catch up on all the last Summer chores yesterday, and the soil is DRY again.
Debating on whether or not to go, I only had one place really viable as it is a short distance from my home and seemed like a good place to find anything.
I never really go there and I have overlooked it for quite some time.
Merely a local park from the late 40's (nothing old), and most of it cluttered up with sports fields (as alot are).
After speaking to an older gentleman, who had stopped there for a bite to eat, I headed on out to get some relaxation if not for anything more.
I never really pulled anything remarkably old from it---one wheat from the 40's--and that was a struggle, but then again I never really put any time into it.
Getting towards sunset and nothing but clad, but was pleased with the pocketfull of quarters.
The last rays of sunshine dwindling, and I heard myself think, "I never have found anything old here."" ~~~the rest is censored~~~.":laughing7:
As soon as the thought started I got a good signal--deeper than the others--and, though quite the contrary to most finds, sounded not that great
audibly, but the TDI/VDI # was right on.
I dug the only plug of the evening that did not fall apart one me--a perfect square wedge held nicely and out popped my first silver from that park--sweet.
It was so close to dark I scraped it's face, if it had been a merc I would have been upset at that.

The real test will be tomorrow as I have been invited up to a picnic in the backyard of a late 1800's home---I am thinking 1889. Best part--they gave me the detecting blessing. So, if I post tomorrow eve--praying the weather holds--it might be a goodie.
