Last Three Hunts of 2018 - Mixture of Finds!

Well all I can say is... the ground is now frozen solid in my area likely until April! These are my last three hunts of 2018, from three different sites here in Southern Ontario.

I'll show you pics of each of the sites, followed by the finds made at each with a recap at the end.

Hey that's a Chevy Corvair! My uncle used to own one when I was a kid. Nice finds! Congrats! Anything on the face of that button?

Lots of good stuff! The round piece with the old car could be a show badge. The exhibitors at our antique tractor shows get a badge like that. The Corvair is the car that ended my drag racing carea.

I'm lucky, here in Southern Ontario metal detecting is a popular hobby in the city, but not so much in the country.
I like to say... "So many sites, not enough time".

I noticed that the Corvair was a two-door as well, might actually be worth saving.
Unfortunately, this farm is slated for new home construction, so these beautiful old barns and the house are scheduled for demolition in the spring.

The button face is blank, but I found it interesting that it was by an American button maker.
The large majority of buttons I find here are British-made.

Interesting thing I noticed about the badge, is that it's more durably constructed then the ones we used to have as kids.
So it's very possible that it was an antique car show badge exhibitors badge.
It looked like this car has been there a long time, sure would be nice to try and save it and pass it on.

You made me think about the term 'Mopar', as this is something we don't have here in Canada...

"The term was first used by Chrysler in the 1920s and was introduced as a brand starting in 1937. The name Mopar was created by a committee to use on cans of "Chrysler Motor Parts" antifreeze. Mopar parts are original equipment manufactured parts for FCA US LLC vehicles. The term "Mopar" has passed into broader usage among car enthusiasts as an unambiguous reference to vehicles produced by former parent company Chrysler Corporation/Chrysler Group LLC, now FCA US.

The term has thus become an inclusive word for any Chrysler-built vehicle–most any Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Imperial, DeSoto or Dodge Trucks/Ram By extension, it is also used for Jeep and AMC vehicles built after Chrysler's 1987 buyout of American Motors Corporation including the short-lived Eagle brand.
