Hello Forum,

Can anyone assist in identifying the age, make, or origin of this lead toy soldier?

Gustav Albrecht Sabac el Cher was born in Sudan. ;-) They named a drink after him: the Black Prussian.

Boy. There is a beer I haven't thought about in some time. This is a 1977 photo of Mrs. Charlie P. (39 years!) whose maiden name is Leipfert. My own St Pauli Girl.

Sorry lads and lassies, I cannot find this little guy in any of my reference material as a commercially-manufactured toy soldier...which leads be to believe he was part of a larger item, i.e., barrel tap, statue, ashtray, etc... He is a very close match to soldiers of the 1890's (which appear very Prussian) made by the Shoenhut toy company, BUT...those were made of a composite cellulose material, NOT lead or another metal alloy. So for now, he must remain a one-man army and is quite a find, IMHO. Cheers, Sub 8-)
