Lead?

This appears to be a block of copper . 7.8 oz very heavy , on my Garrett AT Pro it rings in at a strong 81. Clad penny.
It has small lines on the sides and one end. Other end is broken off. It was at a 1900s home site, still being lived in.
Any idea?

Don't look like lead. Does it scratch easily?

No, it's hard. It is a tiny bit magnetic will barely hold a magnet to it.

I just scrached it on a corner, it has the shine of copper! That's why it sounded like a penny. what would it be?
