Detector(s) used
White's Classic II
And my first gold (2 pcs) was only 3 days ago!!It takes a while to learn what my White's Classic is telling me, but I'm actually getting it!!

I got a signal I presumed was a coin but it had a mashed pile of Goose poo RIGHT where I pin-pointed. I thought to myself: "Self, wouldn't that be the 'sh*t' if this poopy spot is marking a ring or something exceptional." I truly thought about skipping it...but you know how the "what if's" can haunt us.

Well son-of-a-gun if it wasn't a Sterling Silver Ring thing!! My FIRST! But not my last.

Partner,
I would dig everything until you know your detector instead of the other way around. I think you will find more deeper and older coins that way which leads to more silver and gold. Yes you will dig more junk but you will learn to skip those junk targets soon enough. HH

Partenr,

Nice finds, man. I'm still waiting on my first silver ring. When I saw your clad, I thought maybe you've been digging at my local park. All of the clad (except pennies) comes up that same reddish brown. The soil there is really rich, pure black, and fairly moist year round. Coins tend to get deep really fast. Pull tabs come out nice and shiny, though!

Interesting comment, mountainplayer...

I myself have made the observation that - in general - the crappier looking a coin is, the newer it is. The soil here in Seattle plays heck on the "newer" metals.

I feel I must add my (P00P) story, I once found an arrowhead under a dried cow patty, that a crow had turned over, (evidently).

Nice Ring, Fossis.......................

Well now you all know where the saying " lucky goose " came from...or is that duck? hmm...Great ring find!

Keep @ it and HH!!

nice story about the poo partenr.....guess when i get out to the local areas around here where i live i will start looking for the largest flock of birds to start my search....

nice haul

Congrads on the finds and the ring, I am still trying to find my first ring;)

I don't know how the Classic II sounds when it hits silver, but there's no mistaking it when you sweep over a silver ring with the DFX. Nice finds.
