What ever it is, it has a trip release on the left side which would smack it closed when pulled. Are there any other holes or brazings we can't see which might tell if it was attached to something else.

does the short arm have a slot cut in it to allow the pin to catch in the longer arm?
or do the rivets go thru fixed holes in both the 2 long arms & the 1 short arm??

I'm pretty sure this is a "Second Generation" automated "Cat Carrier". The first models were slow and manually operated. This was an attempt to speed up the installation process....although the timing of the trip mechanism was flawed.
Its upside down and missing the carry handle......
Here's the early version:

This later model grabs them sideways by the head. The manual model didn't have enough end to end adjustment to fit all sizes. :laughing7:

With the barbed hooks it reminded me of the working end of a mechanical gaff for landing fish. maybe a bit small for that though. Here's a pic of something similiar.

I think it is the part inside a recliner that allows the leg rest to come up and back closed (via the spring).

We've got to see the other side to get a clue how it was mounted.
