I would love to visit Mount Airy. I was stationed at Fort Bragg and that was probably my chance. I was young and didn't think much about such things then. It's a shame you all missed each other, but you know who is in control and it's His timing, not ours.

Yes. I was a whopping 19 years old in basic training at fort Dix.

Nice! As you surely know, my avatar was taken "a few" years ago also. It is my Marine Recruit Depot San Diego graduation pic..... 18 years old! I am told I have aged some since then, 1967. TTC

On the 18th, PeteyGirl and I left Birchwood TN and drove to MAYBERRY NC, home of Andy Griffith.

We had lunch at Walker's Soda Fountain. I sat in the same spot that Andy did!

We also took our pic in front of Floyd's Barber Shop which was closed for business but OPEN to tourists!

But, alas, it was time to head "down the road a-piece".

We were to connect with my friend DeepseekerADS (Roger) in M A. From 9am to 1205 pm we waited in one parking lot while he waited in another parking lot for us! RATS! Roger had no cell phone so we did not know we got our signals crossed. Next time, friend!
We continued the 18th to Roanoke Rapids/Weldon NC to stay the night. That is leg six. TTC
