Welcome to Tnet Jay!
Only charter members and supporting vendors can sell here and no raffles allowed.Ok my next question is who wants to buy it!? Or maybe I could do a raffle of sorts!?
They are magnetic and are very coveted for knife making or "forging"Welcome to TreasurenetNice find is it magnetic? I understand Metorite's are magnetic . Is this correct ?
It takes a while to get a meteorite authenticated. post much better photos, and if you have access to a saw cut a piece so so can see inside.Ok my next question is who wants to buy it!? Or maybe I could do a raffle of sorts!?
If you like that one check these outThey are magnetic and are very coveted for knife making or "forging"
As you can see I cut the one in half i had these xrayed at a gold shop and the one that is cut in half came back as/ 97.1%IRON,1%COPPER,0.6%GOLD,&0.5%TITANIUM! DOES THAT HELP AT ALL WITH IDENTIFICATION !?
Could it be a warhead or something like that if you look at the front of it,it looks like it has flow lines that are present it looks like it was traveling at a high velocity of speed and melting backwards!?Welcome to Tnet.
Yes, that helps a great deal. It couldn't be a meteorite. There are multiple reasons why, but most significant piece of information is the absence of nickel, which would never be the case for an iron meteorite. Nickel is always associated with the presence of iron in meteorites. No exceptions.
The native metallic components of meteorites are generally in the region of 6-20% nickel (higher in the metal from stony meteorites), with most of the rest as iron. There may be cobalt in amounts up to about 2%, copper in amounts up to about 0.02%, plus traces of manganese and tin. Anything else will usually be in parts per million, or present as non-native compounds.
It also isn't a natural piece of geology. Native iron is extremely rare on Earth and almost exclusively found in in the upper northern hemisphere: Canada, Alaska, Siberia, Greenland etc. as silicated iron deposits.
Whatever you have, it's man-made and from an industrial process.

Why would there be 0.6% Au/GOLD & 0.5%Titanium
If you look at the pics again there is a totally different looking rock that's only slightly magnetic and has white spots or veins on it!?
