Let's see if you guys can figure this one out
I am testing you guys..I already know what this item is..it is still in the possesion of The Smithsonian in D.C....not on display of course..I just haven't gotten around to picking it up since I now live 17 hrs away.
Long story short, I found this along the Chipola river in Florida and took it to the Smithsonian to be identified, since my father knows many of the paleontologists personally(we have done a few digs with them) I also have a fossil fish skull found not far from here, that turned out to be a newly discovered species of Snapper. It also is with the Smithsonian, being studied & published..I did donate that one!!
I will give 1 hint: it is not a jaw bone...yes I know that is exactly what it looks like though.
