Hoping to see some of the east coast points. Here in the mid atlantic we have a lot of quartz and rhyolite to find but not too much of anything else if your close to the coast. Here are some of my favs. Let's see yours.

100_1991.webp100_1988.webpNow ur talkin my language. I have a couple I found last week. One quartz and one quartzite knife. I really like this stuff but it was hard for them to work with.

I'm a knapper and it is extremely hard to work. My best advice is using hammer stones. Copper and antler just don't seem to do it.

I am a knapper too and it is almost impossible to work. Heat does nothing to it. You are right about antler and copper. The stone is very grained and I am surprise that it was ever used as points. The gem stones are incredible enough. Even jasper isn't simple. And anywhere there is hard stone there is something that will flake fairly well if you heat it. I have to think that the pieces made of really tough stone, or done eccentrically was done a ritual artifacts. For burial or to give the big guy.

Sent from my iPad using TreasureNet

Was going to try heat treating but havent yet. I have worked with some jasper with minimal luck. I have almost given up with working with quartz though. Almost everything I find here is quartz or quartzite so they had some kind of method.

Here's some pictures of the quartz Points I have.

The first one is a Hafted Scraper I found here in souther Ohio.

The second pic is some Hixton Quartz Triangles from Wisconisn.

The 3rd is two Bifurcate Points from New Mexico.

The next three frames of Points are all from South Carolina.

The 7th pic is a Stemmed Point from Pennsylvania.

The 8th is from Massachusetts.

The 9th is from Maine.

The 10th is from Georgia.

The 11th is from Connecticutt.

And the last one is from Alabama.

Imagine that.. me a Guy from fla. Can add to this. Only because of my first ever acquired artifacts not personal finds. A few weeks back I did a trade with (Johnathan) BirdpointGriswald from N.C.

Still bad ! Well let him slide but... No more rock or sea life(death) on native forums! Lol ! Gotta bust your chops. Hold on ... My bad I brought the turtle up. All good!!

Nah, not the lacroy. You just live up the street from me. You should get with me before fall and hit the river. If you don't find a paleo piece, I'll pay you gas money. That is how sure I am of it!! Time is ticking though.

I keep telling him to hit the water by his spots. It moves earth alot deeper than the fields and more often.

He ain't doing bad off the water!! I can tell his eye is much better than mine. If he were put on some stuff, I'd like to see it. My eyesight is bad from fishing with no sun glasses. That glare has ruined my eyes!

You gotta get polorized. You can see fish and points under the water.
