Let's Talk New Mexico

Any GPAA members ever do any nugget shooting? Not asking where, I have my "Mining Guide". Just whether you do and if you've had any luck.

New Mexico gold

New Mexico isn't as known for nuggets compared to AZ and other western states, but there's definitely plenty of gold there. Talking with most nuggetshooters from NM I know that a detector that is sensitive to the small stuff is highly preferred in most areas. Best of luck!

Yes, they are here but tough to find. You really have to know your detector. Just went camping with a friend of mine in southwest New Mexico a few weeks back. We were there for two days, detecting all day. I was using a whites vsat and didn't find anything, but I am not very good with a detector at all. My buddy had an older mine lab, a 2200?, and he found 8 pieces for a total of almost 3.5 grams. I have found four or five pieces with my whites down here too, but it was in another spot that's better for Vlf, they were small flakes less than half a gram in weight.
