Howdy All, I found this at a local thrift shop today. It is the Gettysburg Speech. I am 99% sure it is a copy or fake but wanted to run it by ya'll. I read that after the speech, several copies were made by Lincoln to give to special people. I also know that you can get copies at museum gift shops. This appears old and was once folded to possible fit in an envelope. I paid 95 cents for it so if it is a fake, no big deal. THanks Steve

No idea but for 95 cents is worth a shot. Good luck.

10x Your money! Who could refuse that lol!
It looks like a fairly old copy, not mean't to deceive, but to hang on a wall as a conversation piece.

Thanks everybody. That is a great profit, but if I can't retire from selling this, i'll hang it on the wall. I've been a Lincoln fan since I was a young kid {103 years ago}. steve

It looks legit on the signature which even matches the body text, but the paper...I don't get the light border with the darker center. Some of the body text even bleeds over. That's not any kind of paper I'm familiar with. If it's pencil it looks too fresh, if it's pen it's not faded right.

It's neat, but appears printed to me.

Edit: Found this, check the bottom of the page:

It's a copy of the Bliss copy, but very cool! I like how they condensed it to two pages.

If you google his signature there are a number of legit known examples... I don't think you have a real one. But for a buck who really cares if you like it.

Thanks HenryWaltonJonesJr, It looks like I have a copy of the original Bliss copy. Looks like it will be another hundred years before I retire. Thanks Again, Steve

Lincoln only wrote five copies of his Gettysburg Address, so the odds would be very long that your copy is real.

Steve...ain't you ever watched Pawn Stars??

GOD Bless

Chris

If it was real I do think 9 figures would just be a starting point!

First $100,000 takes it!

looks like one of those gift shop items that are made on artificially aged paper. used to see old west wanted posters and confederate paper money in gift shops that looked like that

Common. I was giving Indian Steve renewed hope for an Early (107) retirement. :coffee2:

My wife says that I am so old that I fart dust!

That's a giftshop item. You can tell it was printed with a printing process (not a pen). The ink is too uniform.

Nice item, though.
