Picked this up this weekend. My best guess is that it is some sort of presentation plate. It is smoky gray and translucent. The back has no additional markings or other clues. Came in a red velvet box. Any ideas on true identity?

Re: Lincoln (the car) presentation plate??

It is window for a Lincoln Continental called an opera window.
All Mark IVs were equipped with a vinyl roof. The Mark IV introduced the opera window to the Mark series, a feature that would become a Mark trademark until 1984. In 1972, it was an option, but it was almost universally specified, and from 1973 onward it was a standard feature.

??? The picture appears to be round while the car glass appears to be oval in shape ??? I'm not sure about that.

I was curious about that myself. Its also smokey.

This was posted elsewhere on the board the other day and I first thought opera window also but thought otherwise after looking around a bit. The shape and color are wrong, at least as far as all the examples I found including special editions such as Bill Blass.

I think it to simply be as titled. A presentation plate. Done in the style of the opera window, specially packaged, perhaps something for salesman of month or some such at a Lincoln dealership.

But I can't find anything to back up my theory. :D

I thought the roundness was a camera illusion , Guess I should not reply so early in the morning.

You still might be right. I just couldn't find anything to back it up when I looked the other day, but I can't find anything to refute it either. :dontknow: Going to try some more searches.

It is oval in shape measuring approx 8 1/2 inches long by 6 inches tall.
Oval but not AS oval as normal opera windows
