Little gold coins?

Did some coin roll hunting today. In a old roll of pennies two of these little gold coins were stuffed in between the coins. They are small. Dates are 1854. On the back is a 1/2 and California Gold with a bear maybe. I've never seen anything like this. What did I find?

If you Google search,"California Fractional Token", and Images,you will see all kinds

I would take those to a Gold shop and have Looked at those are Cool never seen anything like those before Great find Possiably

They are certainly gold. In AU50 or better shape.

Sorry to tell you but I think those are novelty gold California gold fractional token. I bought some only to later find out they are fake. In general any fractional coin with a bear on the back is a modern reproduction sorry

Cool to find but they are modern fakes - wheatfinder13 hit it on the head with his post above. The info can be found in any copy of the Red Book for coin values.

Whitman's Red Book for coins says the California fractional gold pieces with the bears on them are new strikes. They did not say however what they are made of.
Try a local dealer for sure.

You will have to excuse my stupidity on this one but...what is coin roll hunting?

Go to your local bank and get a few rolls of pennies or dimes, halfs, and look through them. If you don't find any silver, most likely, return it you don't lose a penny! Of course re wrap and mark the roll with a marker so you do not get the rolls you already searched.
