Local park finds

I found 2 qtrs, some pull tabs and these two interesting things. The silver looking thing has B.C "hammered" into it. It's hard to tell exactly what it is. It was pinging silver on my Lonestar Bounty Hunter pretty hard and I found it about 3-4 inches down. It is hand made and can't tell it's age. The other thing, I can't tell what it is. Neither one is magnetic.

I have no idea what they are. The BC item looks to be lead, silver, or aluminum. Does it have the weight to be lead? Did you try cleaning it with a Baking Soda paste? I clean off the solver coins with that and it instantly makes them shine. Damp coin, camp fingers and gather up the baking soda and rub the coin. I know, every person around will tell you dont rub the coins but EVERY 'dug' coin is almost useless as a collector coin! Besides, most people can tell if it is some sort of rare coin as it comes out of the ground.

Someone could have made themselves a stick-on or maybe some sort of pendant. You can get a good gold/silver test kit (acids) off Amazon for less than $20 and an inexpensive diamond tester for under $70. Eleminates all the guessing about a stone in a ring.

Anyway, interesting finds!

I thought it was a little lite to be lead. I did your baking soda suggestion but it didn't come out any shinier than the last pic...I guess it is lead though...

If you get the chance, pick up a copy of Western and Eastern Treasures, March 2013, and read the article "A City Park With a Past". All about a park in NW Houston written by a fellow, Robbie Morin, that has hunted it quite often. I also hunted it twice and got two Mercs, a silver ring and about 15 lbs of lead. Mark got an almost perfect 1891 quarter, less than 5 inches deep. The place is all manacured now and fill dirt was added in some places.
