Lock plate of some kind?????

I found this today and just cant quite figure out exaclty what it is. Im thinking some kind of lock on a trunk or box?? it hit as nickle but not sure the type of metal. any ideas? time period? i found on a bank of a bayou that runs along a roadway around a neghborhhood that has 90 yr old homes.

It looks like the lock plate for a desk drawer or a small wooden box.

It's got that skeleton key shape kind of. So it could be a lock to anything Just wanna those things. I live finding them!!

ahhhhhhhh, i was thinking a curtain rod, lol. ok, so two very possible IDs. hmmm, i shall keep googling. i tried to go to the link but my computer says address not found. :(
