Hey everyone, What's up. Well The weather is finally starting to kick up. It was nice to hunt in warm weather again.
Hit a few sites over the weekend. One was a log cabin demo site. I hit it in the past before and found some flat buttons a Indian and some relics and such.
About a month ago I tried to hit it and the ground was like a brick. I was getting some good signals but just couldn't get to them.
I decided it was time to go back and check it out. They had moved alot more dirt around and I figured some stuff would turn up.
Me and my brother got to the site Saturday and about 15 minutes into the hunt I dug a holed matron head. It was a good 10 to 12 inches deep. The soil is compressed very tightly from all the dozer's.
I called my brother over to see it and also to show him the depth. I don't over exaggerate depth either.
Most large cents I have found have been really deep and in the clay part of the soil. The last 3 I have dug all had holes though. This was my 8th one of the year. The early silver keeps eluding me though.
Picked up a badly beat merc and a Roosevelt. Soil is really ruff at this spot.
I also found another site with a bunch of really old cellar holes. Bad part was it is part of someone's yard. I knocked no answer. I came back no answer again. No one was home.
I'll put it one ice for a future hunt maybe. Sunday was a strike out day. Tested a few spots but only came up with some relics.
I also found a really nice hammer to a gun. It looks real not a toy piece. It's crafted to well and is really smooth and durable. I don't know the type of gun it came from but it looks old.
Also found a really weird salt shaker in a dump site in the woods. I was looking for a cellar hole came across the bottle dump and found it. Looks to be made of porcelin. Has a bunch of holes on the back side for the salt to come out.
We had a good time though. Hope to come up with some better sites and finds here soon.
