I would like to know what others, who keep accurate statistics, are recovering from their boxes of halves (not cwr). If possible, reply in terms of your last 100 boxes.

My stats:

40%: 1.81 per box (last 100 boxes)
90%: .39 per box (last 100 boxes)

Also, if you would, report your frequency of larger hits (20 or more coins per box in this example per your last 100 boxes). 2 of my last 100 boxes have contained over 20 coins (the actual counts were 29 in one box and 36 in the other).

Thanks in advance- $nack

My last 100 boxes gave me the following results:

39 silvers:
34x 40%
5x 90%...

Since 1/2/12: 129 boxes. 88 were skunk, 41 were "live"
24 90% and 139 40%

$678 in CWR/loose halves
1 90% and 16 40%

bump for more replies :) I know some of you track your halves quite closely

I'm not near my computer currently, but i'll post once I have access to my (many spreadsheets). I lump all sources of coin into one, so my averages include cwr, but it'll be easy to only do the box averages

0.39 keepers per box.. roughly 1 keeper every 3 boxes.

0.39 keepers per box.. roughly 1 keeper every 3 boxes.

That seems very low from posts Ive seen in the past. Seems like the average was around one 90% or two 40% per box. Might be subject to the area as well.

I've been lucky many times, last 2 boxes have been skunks so box-only average is now 2.6 keepers per box. 90% average is 0.53 coins per box (about every other) and 40% average is 2.07 coins per box. (keep in mind I don't do a lot of volume, I've only done 15 boxes total). Also a little more info, my "keepers per box average if you include loose coins and CWR is 4.28 silver coins per box. I hope it keeps up like this, but I won't count on it...

1 in a thousand

Last 103 boxes gave up:

2 - WL
3 - BF
11 - 1964
102 - 40%

I do high volume, so this covers since the beginning of this August. Finds for me have steadily declined since August 2011 with the exception of a couple of good months mixed in. I've had some spans in the past where I've averaged almost 3 silver per box, but it's now more around the 1-1.5 range.

There was one box containing a single coin that was worth my time, that was the one lonely 1925 California Diamond Jubilee commemorative I found back in May. :)

What does "bump" mean here?

It's something you post on a thread that brings the thread back up to the top of the page. Since I am posting a reply here, I have "bumped" it up again. You don't have to say bump either. I could just randomly say, I LIKE TURTLES and Internet magic fairies bring the thread back to life. MAGIC!

Snackmoney - Thanks for posting your stats, I just calculated mine and this is really cool, they're surprisingly similar!

Mine:

40%: 1.88 (vs. your 1.81)
90% .43 (vs. your .39)

I just scored a few big boxes a month ago so I my averages are slightly lowering. I calculated mine based on the last 133 boxes.

HH!

My last 105 boxes:
40s: 162 = 1.54/box
90s: 49 = 0.47/box

CWRs during the same time period:
40s: 137 = 8.9/$500 in CWRs
90s: 16 = 1.0/$500 in CWRs

For me, WAY BETTER #s in CWRs. Problem is, they are harder to get in high volume. I have to call around and drive around all day to get them. Boxes are easy to order and much less time consuming. Most of my best scores have come from CWRs, though, so the extra effort pays off.

HH All

I kept an extremely detailed log for my half boxes for about 2.5 months since I started volume, accounting for every single silver find. I stopped keeping track a few months ago. If you're interested I can send you it in a PM.

This is my last two weeks!!! 114 boxes 65- 90% and 114- 40% Last week was very very good this week pretty bad. So far this year 659.42335 0z
