I found one the other day in the ocean. It's yellow and appears to be gold, but was kind of tarnished. I'm not a treasure hunter just found it, so trying to figure out what it could be...

Without a doubt, a picture or two may help someone on the forum be able to identify it for you.

I am thinking possibly brass. Handrail maybe.
Picture would be very helpful.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post Barnacle_Bill - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - A picture is worth a zillion words!

3rd - I moved this thread from Today's Finds! over to Forum: What Is It? for more exposure.

Sorry, I decided not to bite on this post
I had a few opinions but the more I read the Op decided this was a potential inappropriate bogus post - 2nd post
considering the description, size, diameter
Maybe I'm wrong?
Dare I Ask for a pic

OK so I checked and it seems to be a bronze pin of some kind. I was hesitant to post an image at first but here is one.TheThing.webp
Dimensions are 15cm x 2cm with a slight taper at one end

When cleaned the color was SOOOO golden! After a day though it seems to fade... Not like gold.
