Garrett AT Pro

All Treasure Hunting
you should be able to find a deal on an AT Pro for around 500, that's my opinion.

Skip the Ace and go for the pro

^^^ go with the pro. its waterproof so you can take it to fresh water around you.

AT pro is a good choice or anyone of the similar American made machines.

Use yur budget to fit yur needs.
Great condition ATPros are now easily available for well under $500.
Check used machines with TNets supporting vendors.
Some folks avoid CL, but I've successfully bought and sold detectors there.
Look around. Many competent machines have recently hit the market.
Both Minelab and Fisher are pounding out new detectors.
GL and let us know of yur choice.
Peace ✌

Used explorers are found for less than $500. IMO the best value in the hobby.

Pro, the tones and numbers make educated guesses quick and easy. I will warn you honestly though that some folk, including myself at 6'2, 250, found the pro to be a touch head heavy. It used to put my hand to sleep for the first few weeks of ownership. Used to it now.

Look at the Tesoro line. They make great machines & American made. Hope it helps & good luck. Also, there are a lot of MD dealers here on TreasureNet. Go to them first as they they are reputable and fair.

Thanks every one with your feed back. I will for sure check out the ones mentioned.

Good luck on your choice. I have upgraded a few times over the years. My AT PRO paid for itself in Clad in 18 months but I get out 2 to 3 time a week.
I do marathon hunts which can last 8 hours. I found the learning curve easy. The machine is very stable in fresh water.
If you go with a second hand machine, make sure it was manufactured in the last 2 years. The early machines had problems including leaking.
Even a second hand machine has the original serial number. Get the serial number from the person who has it up for sale and run it by Garrett.
They will tell you how old the machine is. Garrett has an excellent customer service department.
I know you mentioned that your budget is in the neighborhood of $500, but I would find a way to purchase new. A new PRO goes for $594. 95
I heard that (removed by mod, not a supporting vendor) is selling his business. You might be able to get a deal there.
Good Luck Buddy.

Give some serious thought to the Nokta Fors CoRe before you buy... It will cost you about a $100 more but well worth the cost.

Remember if you buy a good detector your money is not lost, they hold their values on resale...

Thanks everyone, I got an really good deal on an new AT PRO diggers special that fit in my budget.

for anyone to know what type of machine to suggest, they would have to know what kind of hunting you mostly do. someone might say that a Porsche is the best car, but It wouldn't be if you only did off road driving, or if you needed to haul around your kids and your elderly grandmother. so, what kind of hunting do you do? Personally, I hunt pretty much exclusively for civil war relics. in the past, I have had great luck with Tesoro metal detectors. the older units with multi-tone were great machines. I have used the newer machines, like the Cibola and the vaquero, and I just don't like the single-tone. the vaquero has great depth, but it's really hard to tell what your digging. for your budget, (assuming you're coin shooting or relic hunting), I would recommend a Tesoro Bandito II Umax, or a Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax. Or... a Teknetics gamma would probably be another good option. you will have much better luck, if you find a good machine and stick with it, and learn it really well. either way, good luck.

I really want to thank Treasure_Hunter and Kellyco. For such an amazing deal on the package. Very friendly people!

Glad to see you got what you needed. I too would like to thank Treasure_Hunter and Kellyco for helping me with my purchase yesterday for the Nokta Fors CoRe. Good luck with your new machine.

I would have suggested the AT Pro or the Fisher F44. Hope you enjoy your new machines and HH to both of you Meucci and mjpoto54!
