it's an old buckle but I wouldn't go so far as to identify it a civil war relic , looks like horse related tack to me and could have belonged to anyone who owned horses back in those days which was most people.

ah well that's true I was just going by how I found it on the same property as other civil war stuff

I agree that hose tack was common. May or may not be CW related. Not sure you could ever tell conclusively.

Yes, they are a pretty common find over here. Horse Tack. Late 1800s, early 1900s.
