theres a legend in Southwestern Alberta Canada about a very rich gold deposit ledge that was discovered by two
American prospectors on their way up the Rockies to The Yukon Gold Rush in the late 1800s
As it turns out most evidence supports that is is in the Blairmore/Hillcrest area of SW Alberta but has also been thought
to be as far north as Rocky Mountain House. As it goes these prospectors found likely showings of gold in the area and decided to bring their heavier equipment in. Upon hiking out of the creek they stumbled on the source of the gold in a ledge. They camped overnight and got into an argument over whether to mine it now or wait till after the winter. One companion flew into a rage and split his companions head open with an axe. the victims last name was Lemon. The surviing companion blamed his companions death on Indians. When word got out about their find the survivor was contracted to lead expeditions back to the mine but went insane whenever he neared the area which made the re-discovery impossible. No one is sure if this is fact or fiction but there are people who look for it every year. Does anyone have any references or information regarding this story?
