Lots of flakes

Hi all!
The weather has been terrible in Illinois this winter but I've been getting out any chance I get. I wanted to share what I have found on a site that I have been to over the last week. I probably spent three hours running around picking up flakes like they are going out of style without finding a single whole point! I bet a lot of you leave the flakes but I get excited anytime I see a shiny rock! Some of the colors in the chert are awesome!

This is an area in the river bottoms where they probably grew maize and had other agricultural activity. With this amount of stuff I gotta believe I will find something!!

Its a start of learning thats for sure. Study the flakes and see if there is any work on the edges. If there is tiny flakes removed then it is a tool if its just sharp most of them are waste flakes. If you are going to keep them as I use to you better get a 5 gallon bucket. I only keep the worked ones now. HH, rock

You've got your eyes on the right material it won't be long now.
I say absolutely pick up every piece unless you like bending down for the same piece day in and day out

i think i see a few pieces that have some edges which show some pressure flaking and possibly were used as some types of expedient tools
very good sign you will find some more

I pick up every flake I see. Sometimes I come home with pockets full of them, but where there's flakes there are usually tools somewhere. Well maybe.
