I had a fantastic weekend hunting for what I love most, civil war relics, down in Culpeper County Virginia. I don't get to go often, so it's a real treat when I do.
My dad and I first started on Thursday, hunting a private permission that used to be a cavalry camp, and there I was lucky enough to dig a couple of Sharp's carbine and Colt pistol bullets.
The next morning was Friday, November 3rd, day one of DIV 55, an invitational relic hunt that was taking place on the historic Beauregard farm. The farm was the site of several skirmishes during the battle of Brandy Station, and the winter camp of the 6ths Corps, union army.
Right off the bat, I dug a Schenkl shell fragment and my first carved bullet!
Not long after, I dug two .69 Cal. Round balls.
I ended the day with a .54 Cal. Roundball, and a knapsack rivet.
