It seems that every year we try to get the Cardinals to stay. But they have dropped in rarely and they are gone again.
This spring this guy has stuck around the chickens and feeder.

I just read that Cardinals only ranged as far north as St.Louis in the 20's and 30's. They appear to be moving north so maybe in time you will have more. Also, robins were non existent here in Cent. IL. before 1840. Gary

1500 ft down into the hamlet they're around, even 400 ft down the road past my shop I see them flying over quite often. Strange though as they don't seem to like the house setting. On the Island we had a dozen or more every winter which was a lovely sight on the white snow. Though we are higher in elevation-so maybe that has something to do with the nesting as well.

The male cardinal is responsible for the healthy nurturing of the fledglings where the other species it’s the female
