Hello all, got out and discovered there are actually these privy things in other cities too! Hmmm, who would have known. Went to a bordering city to poke around a bit. Got into a vacant lot not sure what we would come up with. In fact not sure of the age of whatever home might have been here. Some of the homes in the area date to the Civil War Times on up to the early 1900s. So the adventure begins.

Probing in the usual spots Gary came up with a couple near the property line. Figuring the older one should be closer to the house we started in. Of course we had to blast through some Maple tree roots. Nothing major but you all know what a pain that is. Gary was down about 3 feet or so and “Clunk”. That familiar sound of a whole bottle. Yeah!!! The insitu photos show the beautiful blob beer. Amber. Sweet. Sometimes that jinx’s us. Then the pit goes dry. Not this time tho.

On down we go approaching 6 feet and the Use layer. Now some bottles started to show. A Trommer Extract, several salvation oils. Then the cylinder Dr. Jaynes carminative balsams. Stacked like cord wood. Then a pile of Dr. Parker’s Ginger Tonics from New York. Nice finds that we have not dug before.

As I was getting close to the wall area out pops a beauty. The Kelley and Leonard druggist bottle. That’s my favorite really. A Miles Nervine showed its face but it has a decent crack. I grabbed up a cone ink and a nice green Staffords barrel ink too. Haven’t had a chance yet to clean em. Hopefully today sometime. It was a good day, so after we got done there we came back to our city to pop another privy. Found one keeper. A Niles Michigan Bottling Works Hutch. Sweet! What a way to end a nice fall day in these things we call privies. Who knew! Ha ha. Have fun out there people. But as always stay safe! Until next go around. Jgas. Aw man, that Stafford's is sweet. And the little Elkhart druggist is a killer. Thanks for sharing yet another great dig with us!

Awesome finds. Thanks for the views.

I go away for a couple of days and come back only to find this post. As always, you guys have hit a homerun. The finds are really good ones and I see you have a few multiples of some of them. That’s good especially if you decide to part with 1 or 2. Can’t decide which is my favorite. I really like the barrel ink. I have yet to dig one of those and that one in that color will look great in your display. I agree with you, my favorite is the druggist from Elkhart. The embossing is cool on that little booger. To end the day you find a hutch that not only is embossed but club-based as well. The color in that one is sharp. Great post and thanks for all the photos as well. Geaux Tigers
