Found what I hope is a celt, rough condition as it is. The blade end is evenly shaped and looks to me to be made of greenstone.

Could be a Chisel looks like a bit on one end. But let’s see what others say. I’m not positive

Possibly a Wedge also. I say that by the pounding it shows on the opposite end of the bit. A wedge is something people don’t realize they used but was in the tool kit. It was something they used for splitting logs. It’s a very unique find and if I had found it I’d put it in a frame.

To me it looks like slate which would leave out the notion of it being used as a hammer. Def looks like the bit of a celt imo

The Greenstone is TN is a lot like what I find it’s like a cross between Greenstone and a Rhyolite. It’s softer than what’s found in other states. It grinds easy but yet durable for a Celt or tool.

Well if there is an artifact show that comes close to your area I’d take it and let some collectors look at it in hand to determine what exactly it is. Definitely a hard stone artifact.
