I went swinging at my early river site from last year. Its only my third or so trip there this year. Signals are so hard to come by I sorta wrote it off. Found some lead, buckle frag and a little paste stone button. All mid tones or lower. Only sweet signal of the night and in an area Ive pounded, was a really nice 1664 Potosi mint 1 real cob:headbang: My first dated cob:headbang:

Thats a heck of a cob. Better than any of my 1 reales for sure. That cross is super. My cob sites also produced some nice gem cuff link buttons with inlays beneath. I was able to wet mine and take outside in the bright sun to get pics. Play with it wet in the sun and see if you can get a clearer image. Love that cuff link button too!
Thanks. Super thrilled with the cob but the button alone would have been enough for me. Ive never seen anything like it. Ive found some before but never with an inlay beneath it. Sorta looks like a cross or possibly a flower. What were typical motifs on these? Not finding many pics online

Killer find, congrats! :occasion14:

That is an awesome looking cob & the nicest I've remember seeing posted here, the stone is pretty cool and I think I see a pattern in the original picture as well, congrats on the saves & HH

1600's silver!!!! Doesn't get better than that! Big, big congrats!

Bet that got the old pumper going ...congrats!

That’s a great cob
Congrats

I have one with a flower. There's also an urn, 2 ravens with a crown atop (that on is gold inset), and another with just a design - as I recall. Might be more but I have forgotten.

Beautiful!! What an amazing piece of history, congrats on the save:icon_thumleft:

You gotta be kidding that is freakin sweet wow I'd be happy to find on in my life time. Well done. Tommy

Those are really nice. Maybe mine could be a crest for a local landowner. With all the circa 1700 silver and relics Ive found here, there was surely some well to do folks coming through there

That Cobb is awesome. Congratulations.

I'm not sure how I missed this when you first posted it, but THAT is a banner find! That is, without a doubt, one of the most detailed and beautiful cobs I've seen posted on this site! Congratulations and well done!

Hey. Thanks for the banner nod. I was thinking you dont see many cobs posted on here anymore and certainly none with this much eye appeal. Im happy with it and thats all that matters
