With cold but dry weather the past few weeks, I've been trying to form a game plan at the claim. I'm thinkin' with a little help, I want to hit the area that I know will have good gold, and do a test on some virgin ground near where my first season dry hole was. So Memorial weekend, which is the kick start to our season, will be set up where the good gold will be, work it a full day, then jump upstream and out of the creek to run a five bucket test, about 10 cubic feet, load them in the truck and set up my old faithful sluice in the creek. This will likely only take me away from the gold for a half day.
If the test is successful, I'll need to buy more hose to set up the highbanker closer to the dig. Ain't no fun carting buckets to the creek.

The old timers back in the day washed most of the reveins(sp) down, and I can almost envision where the long toms were. They left virgin dirt near the top of every one.. Not sure why. Maybe they just couldn't get the water far enough, or they were at a cut off point of color. There's only one way to find out. If the color warrants it, I'll need the good gold to pay for the new gold.
Come on May!!!!
