M6 god awful in the Georgia red soil....

Moved from the midwest to Georgia a few months back and honestly until the past week or so, I haven't had a chance to try out the M6 on the Georgia red clay.

Ugh... I'm sorry to say, it's a beast.

Tried the stock 950 coil and my SEF 8x6, various sens settings and disc near zero and all I get are lots of falsing, VDI all over the map.

Thinking of an MXT All Pro but seeing as though they're based on the same technology, can I expect some more control and stability?

Any help would be appreciated!

red clay soil is high iron --you will need a machine that can cull out iron very well

With the DD coil and with it properly ground balanced it should run fine. Have you eliminated it being emi? Have you tried your Outlaw in this area?

I seriously doubt it. Mine work pretty much the same but we have mild ground around here. They are basically the same technology with the M6 not having a threshold adjustment. I am not sure whether the ground grab feature on the MXT Pro would help. I don't have any experience with that feature since I just have the standard MXT. I have never had the problem the OP is talking about. I would have thought that the double d coil should have helped. Sounds like he might be having an EMI issue.

It would be helpful if you try your M6 in several places. Maybe a ball field at a high school that may have been build with non native soil for drainage .. also way out in the woods or fields far from any power sources.. Shot a 60 second video of how the machine acts at each location to determine if the machine is the problem, the environment or the soil.. You can upload your phone video to youtube and post the link hear so everyone can see what is going on

I would put it in prospecting mode and find the hottest ground I can. Then turn it off and back on and balance to that spot then lock it.

For that Type of ground I think you need a PI machine because that is the type of ground that they were made for,

Just out of curiosity; what sticker are you referring to? I'm asking as I will check on my M6 if I know where to look.

On some of the whites mds there is a small black sticker that covers the screw hole that adjusts the GB.
It is round and very small.
I will see if I can find out where it is.
On the classic sl series it is on the bottom.By the speaker area I believe.
