M73A3 LAW

Years back I picked up, on a whim, a M72A3 LAW (Light Anti-Armor Weapon) tube at an antique store for the pricey sum of $12.00.

After learning about them I discovered the sling and front cap assembly was MIA, and the front sight insert was partially missing. The reason for the sight being MIA is the radioactive paint on the upper part. So after use, it's broken off and turned in. Well the sling/cap assembly is not an easy thing to find. Passed on one that had the hardware but looked like an angry beaver got hold of the sling. Now I kick myself, and I'm thinking I can replace the cloth portion easily. Just need the hardware to all be there. Complete M72 launchers start off around $350.00 going on up into the $700.00 range. So IF I can find a sling/cap I'm ahead of the game.

Over the years I've looked for the sling/cap assembly and the sight insert. Not an easy task that is for sure. Well finally found a reproduction sight insert and it's on the way.

Now just the sling/cap assembly needs to be found. Going to order a 3d printed rocket to put in it also.

Original sight remains, and the new reproduction sight on the way. Last picture shows what the rocket would look like.

Should add that I can occasionally find Air Soft copies of the sling/cap, along with reproduction, and once in a blue moon original ones overseas. Just no shipping to the US.

You have experience firing them?

Being Air Force the only experience I have with them, is when I saw them being toted by Rangers or Green Berets when we infilled them during early GWOT.

Yes, I have fired them. Used three to get out of an "L" ambush in n=Nicarag.. Probably still classified.

I remember the scene from Dirty Harry when the soldier fired the Laws. He described it as a one shot disposable bazooka. Harry pulled his female partner out of the way of the blast of fire that came out the back just in time.
