Hey Johnny, welcome. You will not find a nicer group of people than the ones posting here in Mass. If you hadn't noticed we had a ball last Sat. I would go hunting with these folks any day!

Hey Kim, sending you a pm. Hi Johnny, welcome to TNet! Kim's right, everyone here is awesome. we'll try to get something going soon,

whats up guys...Its MA_Hunter001 here,

I was wondering if there was a metal detecting group my father and I would be able to join?? I'm from the Sturbridge/Worcester area and just started hunting 2.5 years ago. It would also be fun to hunt with other people from MA...any ideas/messages would be great. :) :)

God Bless;

-Steve

Hey Steve trying to get another hunt together before ground freezes, does not look real promising unless we get a warm up. Keep watching here in Mass and you are welcome to join us!
Kim

Now is the time to get out and hunt the lakes that have been drawn down for the winter. Easy hunting and the ground won't freeze for a while. Cladius.

Yeah! Let us at'em!

I'm still checking the forum now and then but man this year is moving at a rapid pace and between things I have to get done at home and work going crazy on me lately, I just don't have that much time anymore.

I can't promise anything, but if you folks get something together, I'll see if I can join you - I'll even bring some refreshments and/or food if I can make it.

I'll keep stopping by here

If not too late, I'd be interested as well. I'm just a newbie to the board and to MDing but having a lot of fun so far (been putting 2-3 hrs in most days). My Jeep is having some issues so I probably can't drive too far from Boston NW suburbs until I get it fixed.

(How does winter affect the ground for MDing in these parts anyhow?)

Welcome. Keep checking back, if the weather holds out we may get another chance this fall. I doubt it though. MDing is tough when the ground is frozen 4-6" down. Some of the others beach hunt and the sand does not freeze, we are talking a winter beach hunt. We'll let you know. Again welcome.

Welcome, Rich.
What Kim said :D

Thanks, all.

Anyone here near the Medford/Winchester/Arlington area? I haven't gone detecting with anyone except my kids so far and it seems like it might be fun--even if it is inherently sort of a individual activity. I saw there was an MD club in Newton or near there. If there are any NW of town, I haven't found them yet.

Hi Rich,
The Mass Treasure Hunters' Assciation has their meetings in Newton Highlands, I believe. I live in Worcester, but my Grandmother lives in Watertown and I go there often - it would be easy for me to come out your way to hunt sometime if you want. What town do you live in?
Lara

the ground near me sometimes freezes to over two feet thick.so sandy beaches are good. i have also detected drawn down lakes but usually some one else beats me to it because i see there dig holes. i found my first ring at the lake so lakes are good spots in winter. but you do dig wet holes kidd

Hey,
I'm new as well. I need to learn from people who do ;D. Keep me posted, I'm from the r495 Milford area.
