made in ptaly? (UPDATED)

hello, when i was T'ang a nearby school, i found this ring. It is very same and thin. It says "magic hat" then "made in Ptaly" However the P is corroded, so it could be an f too. It is made of brass. I would like to know anything about it. I believe it is old...

After cleaning some corosion and comparing the "P" to the other I, I have concluded that it is Italy....

Ok, a bit of research shows that it could be part of a magic trick.....there are at least two that involve a ring.....
