I got out a few minutes today after work. Had a pretty nice day! I found a couple of scrapers one is a core that I think was used.

Another one of these strange pieces, this time showing more work!!

An old weathered out Celt or spade. I'll probably have some beg the differ. It's so weathered, it's not worth an argument, debate, or a post actually. Just respecting what it was long long ago.

Also found a strange piece. I would not have known what it was, had I not found so many flaked versions of this tool. A hard stone hand spade. I'm not done looking this one over. I hope my pics allow you to see the wear and grinding on this piece.

Also found a couple points and the center of a blade.

This is my favorite of the day. I can't say I have ever found another point like this one. It may be a scraper or a blade rather than a point, I'm not sure. It's pretty, I think.

All of these were found in about 45 minutes. I think I'll spend a little more time in this spot!!

What kind of lithic is the white type NC? It does weather quite a bit and is very hard to see the work on it. Looks like you had a good hunt, rock

I'm not sure what that lithic is. I only find it on the river. I have been hunting a field that is directly on the flood line. I can tell this field was once the river bottom. On Google Earth a wide gully can be seen. This river was wider than it is now.

I found a piece of that yesterday I believe in the creek. It had been worked on one side only but it wasnt a hard type of stone. Its in my truck bed rite now. It wouldnt show up in a pic so no need to post it. Maybe this one will do. I have had it looked at and it is a worked piece. The person said the same thing I was thinking......why make a knife out of this stuff it wouldnt hold up if they ever used it?

Hey NC. I was looking at your picks and a couple look like this rock I picked up near Red Mtn., it might just be a rock but its disc shaped and seems to have an edge but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Rock or not.

NC.N, that looks a lot like some of the pieces I find. The pieces I posted here came from the Red Mt. Area. We will have to catch up with each other pretty soon. Lets shoot for this weekend. I think you have a quick made tool here. No one acknowledges these. However, no one here walk the same grounds that we do. Their observation is not what ours is. Check this out!!

I never posted this. I found it over a year ago. I figured since I know this is an agricultural tool, I didn't need to post it. It would get labeled as a geofact, and I refuse to debate pieces like this with people from out of state. NC has got much rougher lithic than other states. Nice lithic shows up around here on paleo and early archaic stuff frequently. Rare is a later find of nice lithic.

Well I think possibly it was a knife/blade per-say that was used on a special material, just below it in hardness scale. Just a thought. Also that type rock is what is used for heat treating?? I'm not sure just thought I'd comment.

Yeah they would of heated it. But did they heat the flint before or after they chipped it? If they heated it after then that would make sense and they just never heated it. It hasnt been put in the fire and is non heated. It was my first blade type of artifact I ever found.

Rock I found a big crude blade like yours a week or two back.
