Ok folks. A little help ok? This is my 1st trip to the beach ever with a metal detector! My new Ace 250. New to the sport and loving the thrill of not knowing what you've found until you dig it up! What part of Galveston island would be the best? Down the edge of the water line? Further back where the people lay? All the way back where the surf stops? Or even further back? Like I said I'm new to this and need all the help I can get! Sorry for all the questions! Oh! Would the jewelry setting be the best one for the beach? Thanks Ron:)

I'd start with a zigzag pattern around the blanket line and running parallel to the water line. With your machine, I doubt your machine will work very well in the wet sand or water. If it does, great! Once you find a "trough" of good targets, grid that area and continue down the beach along that strip. I'd run your machine in all metal unless the iron is driving you crazy. I'd then turn up the discrimination until I no longer picked up nail and hair pins. Too much discrimination and you'll miss gold rings.

Thanks a lot! :)
