Does anyone here know when they first started to use magnetic ink in US Currency?

It's a quick and easy way to check for counterfeits.

Magnetic ink was developed for use in automatic check reading machines designed by NCR. As I remember , it was around 1959.
US paper money, which is made from cotton fiber,not paper, contains metallic fibers also along with the red and blue died small marker fibers.
