Next time you are shopping for a new camera for taking closeups of your finds,
perhaps you should give a Sony camera with Magnifying glass mode a look.

I have owned 2, a DSC-T1 and a DSC-T200 that I just got.
It is a mode selected like macro mode but with added zoom

I am interested to know if other members have cameras with similar modes

I like the idea of it, but the camera looks like 640x480. Could be better quality.
Still I will keep an eye on these for when they get more resolution.

Great camera! They have a T500 coming out this month, just better video capture (HD). I love the touchscreen and just how close you can focus with the T200.

kaptainkosmic, the microscope is perfect for anyone wanting to take pictures of their finds once they get back home, or even to use to see things you normally couldn't on coins etc! Not sure what you're using, but the digimicro microscope (google it) is inexpensive and can take images up to 1280x1024 pixels. Not huge, but it's not like you want to post an image that big here or make an 8x10 of your coin to hang up. Or maybe you do! I haven't found anything worth framing quite yet :tongue3:

Not to change the subject but a picture of yourself would be suitable for framing judging from your avatar!!

After posting that I started thinking about it. Staci I was NOT trying to insult your anything, I was simply TRYING to pay you a compliment.

Hope it didn't come across the wrong way.

I definitely want to buy this camera for my next pocket digital camera.

:icon_sunny: no offense taken Larry!

Thanks for the compliment :D I wouldn't put my picture on here if I had a problem with people seeing it. I actually should post a really good pic my dad took while we were detecting last year when I'd dug a find. We both love photography and get lucky with some good shots once in a while!
