Wow -- that gouge is amazing. How long is it?

Kindest regards,

Monty

Thanks monty found it in two pieces a week apart.i believe it was a victim of a bulldozer. The total length is 11- 1\2" inches.

Is the Gouge made from stone?

Awesome gouge. Id die if i found one of those.

Yeah rock, it's made of stone. It's the same one he posted a while back in the to glue or not thread, you posted in.

Both are super!!!

Yes rock its made of stone. They are said to be pitted and then they use a type of rod to abrade it to get the channel. What i find intetesting is the little speed bump on the end and the perfect ridge along the bottom.

Thats amazing I have never heard of a gouge that large before. Is it a rare piece? I have never seen one before.

Im guessing it is pretty rare.I have other gouges but none that size.Apparently the full channeled gouge tends to be longer than the others. These piles im going through are fairly grown over.I dont sift any thing i just do a very thorough job of raking it out rock.

I have full channeled gouges no more then 5 inches long, so they don't have to be that large, but that one's a killer. I had left info identifying the exact type of gouge and nature of the "speed bump". However, that info was apparently regarded as irrelevant and not useful, so I deleted the information.

Why wasnt it important? I guess I missed it.
