Went back to the school grounds where I found my Merc and Washington quarter this morning. Detected for about an hour and my first signal was what looks to be a 1919 Wheatie. Next signal was a '54 Rosie down about 7". Then I got myself a dateless buffalo to boot! Not a bad little spot I found here. 
Also, just by way of fyi, I've been trying something different on my Safari, which I think has been helping me pick out the targets a bit better lately. Normally I have my sensitivity set to around 17 (full sensitivity is 20), and in all metal mode this means my ears have to filter through a lot of ground noise. Well, I turned the sensitivity down to 10 and now I hear very little ground noise with no apparent loss of depth. I have hesitated to try this simply because I thought a loss of depth might be the result of such an action, but apparently it's not an issue with the Safari.
