I have a decent amount of gold and was thinking about making something from new from them, a honker ring or cross maybe. Anyone been down that road?

Yes, I took an adult eductation class when I retired 20 years ago... took a bunch of 14k earrings and made myselft a couple of nugget style rings. One weights 3/4 ox.

Yes. I wanted something special for the bride. I watched a friends two daughters, friends of my daughter for years. Put them on the school bus every morning. His family owned an old school Italian jewelry store in an affluent town. You know what they say. A favors a favor. He took some wedding bands and a pile of diamonds. I watched him melt down the gold. Rolled it out in a hand crank roller into a thin plate. Traced and cut out 2 teardrop shapes by hand and solder little oats between the and on and on. Then the only thing he charged me for was sending it all to Tiffanie’s in Boston to the stone setter. She has a one of a kind custom pendant. I bought a diamond studded chain from the place I buy my bullion at. It’s nice to have a one of a kind. 👍

Sweet. I was wondering about setting stones. I guess a design is in order as a first step.

I picked up some beautiful pressed stained glass from an old church in the Bahamas and had the pieces set in silver bezels for the ladies. It is debated whether this church is the oldest in the Bahamas!! Happy wife....happy treasurhunting life !!
