We worked for a little bit today. Gotta little bit of work that needed to be done out the way and took full advantage of this 70 degree weather, yes I said 70 degree weather! Crazy, but we'll take it! Myself, my cousin(flyinryan2) and Sam, a buddy from work hit the spot where I found my VA button and spurs. The field itself is a fairly good size field, but the section of field the stuff is in is pretty small. Maybe 100-150 feet by 100-150 feet. If that. Very small camp was set up here I believe with maybe just a hand full of soldiers. All signals dug today were the deep ones that were probably skipped over due to their faint signal or choppy signals. First good signal dug was the General Service eagle button at about 11 inches. That is 3 total GS buttons that I dug, and Sam dug 2 I believe. Pretty good for such a small area. Dug a couple spencer casings, a thimble, old shaving knife(cw period, I believe someone I.Ded it as that), toe tap, burnside casing, spencer bullet(nicest one I think I dug that wasn't corroded). I also dug a large piece of brass that pretty much crumbled when I took it out. My cousin was watching as I took it out of the hole. Thought I had an eagle breast plate or something. Some parts are thin and some of it was thicker. Got to cleaning it and thought maybe part to a canteen or something?
Got this small section pretty whooped on targets I believe. There's some iron targets in there. Guess next would be to dig those out and maybe get some hidden goodies. The gardner bullet was dug in the morning before work in a separate field. Thanks for looking guys and happy hunting!
