Has anyone checked out around Manassas Battlefield lately? Heard there was some land for sale next to battlefield and nobody is living on it so I was told. Think I might check it out once I get the directions.

You do not want to take a detector anywhere near the battlefield. Your best bet is to find if it is private land and then get permission from the owner to hunt. If not you can guarantee you will get a visit from the PWCPD and possible confiscation of your detector. The NPS owns land that is not currently not marked as part of its trust around the battlefield.

Make sure you have the ok to hunt in writing, it will save a lot of hassles. You can print them up from the quicken legal page site. You can start off with a waver if you are injured on the landowners property through your own fault. Also it's good to add a statement that you will not damage or deface the property.

Thanks, when digging, I always try to remember to fill the holes back up. Thanks for the info. What part of USA are you from? I live outside DC.
