Detector(s) used
Minelab Manticore
Minelabe Excalibur II
Minelab Equinox 800
Garrett AT Max
Garrett "Carrot"
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
All at one beach, just over 5 ounces of Sterling, Britannia, and Pure silver. Found with manticore. It's a killer beach machine. Deep beach, recovery 5, sensitivity 29, prospecting tone, multi freq. I actually would like to ID the one feather ring, I assume it's japanese 1000 pure silver before they replaced 1000 with 999. But I can't ID the maker or design. It looks like the Martha Jackson feather rings...

Nice finds :) Thanks for sharing. Great idea on also posting your settings

Wow, I am jealous
Yeah, it's never going to happen again, this has to be a virgin ground situation. The japanese don't seem to care for metal detecting. I have to have been the first one here. That much silver off one spot? Glad I got to experience it

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

That's a great day at the beach. :icon_thumleft:
I've gone back a couple times and I am still finding stuff. Way less, but there's still the iffy/iron sounding targets that sometimes ends up being something nice. I'll probably ly hit it one more time, complete covering it with the garrett max on all metal with 13 inch coil. That thing is deep and has the best all metal I've used, haha.

That's a pile of recoveries for one beach, and it all being silver. Congrats
How's the ratio of trash is it like every beach?

Yes, if you count tent stakes and foil balls, haha. Not many pull tabs, modern flip tabs mostly. No beer bottle caps, but a few aluminum pop bottle caps. But the majority is iron stakes and aluminum balls from bbqing. Japanese beaches sre heavy in black sand if not all black sand, so it's masked many targets making them sound faint or "off". These beaches, you literally have to dig everything. It's crazy that I find this much silver and a ton of lead, but no gold at all.

Nice haul on the silver! And I'm with you, where is the gold? Or even Platinum.. Maybe it has sunk deeper?

My guess is......... someone hunts it regularly and is cherry picking all the gold. Something I use to do years ago..

Have you done a test for gold as of yet?
Bury it at different levels, or the levels the silvers are down at and see even if you can pick it up.
(The black sand might be masking it-just a thought)
Say a 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K if you have any.
