Hey everyone I am not 100% sure as to where to post this but I know this is a kind community and someone here should be able to help. My detecting buddy is headed to an area around Athol and Orange Massachusetts for work. He is wanted to do some detecting out in the woods around there and would like to know if anybody/ detecting clubs could help him out. He's been detecting for 20+ years and is a real nice and knowledgeable guy. Please pm me and I can give you his email and stuff. Or at least give some advice for eastern state detecting as we are Nevada natives. Thank you all. GL & HH

From the T-Net homepage...click the "Forum" button near top left under Treasurenet logo...

Forum_button.jpg

scroll aaaaall the way down to "TreasureNet by Location", then "Massachusetts"

Hi Jwarner, Orange is down the street from me (20 minutes), I used to work in Orange. I live in Greenfield, I would be happy to take him out to some old 1700s cellar holes if he would be interested in that.

He would be hitting me at the right time, through hours of research I just located another 65 cellar holes I need to search.

Anyone else on Tnet or in the area is welcome also, just PM me

- Brian

Spread out through 4 towns out west

I went out Saturday with a detecting buddy and found the first 4 cellar holes, one of them I believe could be a virgin site as it was very difficult to locate off the road.

Nice. Any guess on when they date from. They seem fairly large to me.

My guess would be the first two are mid 1800s and the last one late 1700s to early 1800. These cellar holes were the closest to my location on the list and probably the not so old ones.

No nothing much, We didn't swing the detectors to much on Saturday (too hot), but will be heading out tomorrow as it has cooled down a bit finally. also when we walked in the last hole my buddy almost walked into a hornets nest and got hit pretty good. We just wanted to locate a few of the holes that were close.

Yeah, it's been crazy hot! Bee/hornets are probably loving it for sure...hopefully the ticks are not. I'm gonna venture out to check a couple of my deep woods sites during the next couple of days.
