Md and New Jersey beaches detecting in the winter

Hi! I am new to the Treasure forum but not to metal detecting been doing it for more then 20 yrs off and on but every chance I get the last 2 yrs can't get a enough of it I was wondering if anyone hunts the beaches from Ocean city Md up the coast to Delaware and New Jersery doing the winter months and what you find and when are the best times to go thanks for any info

Hi Labradoodle,
I'm new to MD'ing myself but I'm learning alot on this forum. I've detected Cape May and Wildwood, NJ beaches over the winter. Since seeing other MD'ers everytime I was there, and just finding clad in small cuts, I'm assuming the regulars there have gotten alot of the good stuff off the dry and wet sand. Negative low tides were when I hunted. I learned that right here. I'll be MD'ing much more this spring and summer. Maybe I'll find something worth posting.

Trust me when I say that the other detectorists that you saw hunting in wildwood didn't get everything in the wetsand....there is plenty of accumulation there....the beach has never been replenished there, so most of the many summers of accumulation are in reach of a coil and just a noreaster away from someone digging them and adding to their collections. the fact is.....the beaches there can never be hunted out.....not even close to it!!........but that's ok....if you don't want to hunt there anymore...well....we won't complain......competition is alway better when it is non-existent.....HH.....Surfdigger

Thanks for the post. I'll bet I find my share this season. I did meet a detectorist, real nice fellow, he directed me to a cut in the Cresse Ave. beach this winter. It was an appreciated lesson in MD'ing from experience and I did get a couple dollars in clad. I'm too much of a wimp to get wet when it was that cold. I can't wait to get a negative tide when it is warmer. I'm not even thinking competition but I hope to show off some good finds. I'll be a mid week MD'er somewhere on the beach in Wildwood. Hope to meet you Surfdigger. Just don't laugh at this rookie's style ....LOL.
