mean high tide

I understand what the mean high tide water line is, but still being a newbie, how do you know where it is on the beach? What can I look for for spotting this area?

Since you live near a beach you could look at the back of the PB Post sports section and after reviwing the tide table go over to the beach at low tide. While there you should notice a line of seaweed and debris running parallel to the water between the low tide water and the dune line, parking lot etc. That line will show you where the last high tide was.

This is how a court determined the MHTL. It was too boring for me to completely read and although it was a case out of a northern state it seems they used generic federal figures in the calculations.
