Meek's Cutoff- Gold Discovered on Journey West?

The Story of Meek's Cutoff is facinating, not as popular as the story of the Donner Party, but apparently Legend has it, they came across gold on their journey out west?

Hard to believe they would of ever abandoned the Columbia River Route For a desert Route?

First I've heard of this movie. Im gonna watch it now on peacock. Indeed a lot of folks paid with their lives seeking a better way during those times and any short cuts to get you there quicker made sense. Sadly some times what seems easier just isn't. I stopped by once at the some graves of some folks who's quest ended in a very desolate place in far western Wyoming one time.

It's an OK film. Actually, I prefer First Cow, by the same Director. But suit yourself it's worth a watch.

Yeah, I probably would of made a few different choices if I was the Director. Actually there is a mistake in the film where San Francisco is mentioned San Francisco was called Yerba Buena at the time the supposed film was taking place. Yerba Buena wasn't called San Francisco until 1847.
Still a solid film though. I enjoyed it. They don't make alot of Frontier films. Worth watching.

You should probably check out Old Henry (2021) on Tubi while your at it. it's pretty good, kind of an underrated Western, that got little word of mouth. It has nothing to do with Meek's Cutoff but a good flick nonetheless.
