I had the day off today and while I first thought I was going to get rained out all day, was excited to see a gap in the morning forecast where it wouldn't rain for a few hours. So I got in touch with a buddy and we agreed to meet at a large local park which we've been gradually scouting. My buddy kicked off the first hour with a really exciting find, he said "I think I got a large cent!" and upon looking closer at the coin I saw a bust which looked even older - a King George perhaps! (Turned out it's likely King George I.). My best find of the first hour was a green parachutist action figure which I put in my finds pouch hoping it would bring me luck. Kept walking towards a new area and got a deeper signal which turned out to be a beautiful 1928 wheat penny. The finds were still a bit sparse, so I suggested maybe we'd hit a tried and true place for the last hour but my buddy was like "Let's keep going this way" so we did. About a half hour later I got a perfect deep squeaking Deus high tone right in between two midtone signals, which turned out to be a 1926 Mercury about six inches down. Woot! Then the fun really started as I got to another tree, dug a Wheatie, then my friend dug a Wheatie and then I dug another and another and he dug another and another. We must have dug like 10 Wheats out of that little area in just a half hour. Then I moved over to the other side of the tree and got a beautiful deeper signal which was reading 89-90 on the Deus. I called my friend over to see what his E-Trac would say, hoping that signal would come up the magic 45 on his machine. He brings the machine over and I see his expression change - "DUDE THAT SOUNDS LIKE SILVER!" so then I got really excited. Started digging and I saw a thin reeded edge staring back at me in the hole - 1913 Barber! WOOT! Just then the rain started so we brought the lucky paratrooper hunt to a close.

Great fun and multiplied x 2 with a buddy!:headbang: Way cool coinage and the "Lucky" paratrooper. Glad you were able to find that window of opportunity between the rain showers. Well done mate!:icon_thumright:
