Well I have been on this site a good while now and have met some really good people and a few not so good. Just thought I would make a thread for anyone to voice and vent their frustrations on site poachers. I have 4 that literally have watched me on here post stuff and gone and watched me out in the field. 3 has gone as far as asking permission from the owners of the property saying I sent them. Which I did not. One gentleman in general on here even went to a known camp/skirmish area that has never been detected and found some great stuff and posted on here all the while trespassing on posted land. Funny thing was when I called him out on it he said he had permission but when I showed the land owners the pictures they flipped a lid and wanted the name and info on the guy so they could prosecute him for trespassing. So does anyone else know anyone like this?

Unfortunately there will always be those that poach. Be it hunting or detecting. Have dealt with it many times over the years. It is frustrating and at times infuriating to say the least. Just another reason people have to restrict access to property that would be other wise easy to gain permission to. Always dishonest and bad apples out there........make it more difficult for the rest of us.

Very common problem. I would say that more than half of the folks I've taken out to my "secret" spots have returned on their own or, worse, with friends without asking. It's the nature of the beast. I am VERY selective now in my old age as to who I bring with me and where I take them. On the flip side, I never hunt another person's spot without them. It is just bad ju-ju.

I always hunt alone ok my son too but he's 9 .he will probably steal my spots someday

Any more i just do not worry about to much about small things …. People have to hunt some were…… I have seen that happen up here . And any more i really don't let it bother me ..

Wouldn't have bothered me so bad if these guys hadn't got me in trouble with the landowner when they creeped out there and left holes unfilled. I also wouldn't be upset if they hadn't watched me at my virgin CW site

Wow that has never happened to me that I know of but then again I don't really find that much to get worked up over.I know if you post a picture from a cell phone it's best to turn location services off so people can't track where you were when you found something.Im sorry that happened to you.Trust is something not to be taken lightly.

I never have nor ever will talk about current events as to my involvement in this hobby. I spend too much time researching sites and developing connections to hand over good locations with 'loose lips' to slackers who think nothing of stealing - anything. I guess it's because I'm from a different generation, but I can not understand young people (40 - under) that have an incessant need to broadcast to the world every move they make, every breath they take, every fart they break. In so doing you reap what you sow. Sorry, I'm old but I've always lived in moderation and kept moral code.

I was known for poaching a deer or 2 in my younger days.:laughing7:

God Bless

"every move they make, every breath they take, every fart they break" I like that....could be a line in a song. LoL

…. I know what you mean i never tell any one any thing and now these people go on the internet now a days and tell the whole world every thing there life story there secret's ….

Foiler- I'm very good at keeping my business only my business and I don't go around telling people where I've been. I have many hunts I wish I could have taken pictures I but due to some of the people on this forum who know me and the area in which I live and hunt I cannot take pics because the guys will see where I am at. I have caught them on my own spots by placing my two game cams

Yea I've known a few Snitches in My Life

Sorry ! Not Cool imo :(

it's better to fight your own wars personally.

for the record, I'm no fan of poachers either, But
if it were to get that bad, I'd try to take care of it without
getting landowners involved.
other then casually mentioning there may have been someone else there,
if asked about open holes.

yes but the foe of my foe is my friend..

Anyone who posts good finds is going to have people try to poach on their grounds. Sometimes even people you thought were friends will go behind your back, trespass on lands you worked to gain permission.

I know of two very very very well known people in the hobby, both antique dealers who poach, by their own admission. Jerks.

Very true Jason. I've even had family like that;)

Yeah...poaching sucks no matter what is poached, beit a primo location, wildlife, clients, or even pics. Like Foiler I adhere to a strong moral code; others, not so much.

I know someone who placed in the top 3 of a photo competition with a pic of a snowy owl in flight - after having found said snowy in location told him by another local member of that particular photo club! She was a little miffed as she had been done out of a ribbon by his entry, as she also entered a pic of an owl, and still finished in the Top 5 with it.
